This session will review the new Engineering Directive E-20-001 - Controlling Criteria and Design Justification Process – released in January 2020 that applies to all projects led and reviewed by MassDOT. Criteria for Pedestrian and Bicycle Facilities expand on MassDOT’s previous guidance by helping to build a network of high quality, high comfort facilities for users of all ages and abilities. The criterion for Transit Provisions is the first of its kind among state Departments of Transportation, creating a formal documentation and justification process for determining the level of transit priority provided along a roadway with transit service.
